Good software starts with the right question, not the fastest answer. I slow down before I speed up — reading the system, mapping failure modes, questioning the spec. The things I value most in engineering are the same things I value in design: clarity, constraint, and composability.

Read the system before touching a line of code. Every assumption you skip is a bug you will fix later.

The best interfaces aren't born from freedom — they emerge from understanding what must not be there.
Composability wins
A thing that does one job perfectly is more powerful than a thing that does many jobs adequately.
